There's always a reason to promote! - 2008-02-28
Promotional campaigns help to create something new to talk about for your product. Giving potential customers another reason to buy lets you take full advantage of increased spending which takes place during special times of the year.
Possible promotional periods include:
- Valentines Day
- Easter
- Mother's Day and Father's Day
- Christmas
- School holidays and back-to-school
- Local Food and Wine festivals
- Local and major international sporting events
HOW TO CREATE A PROMOTIONAL SCHEDULE?
1. Using a calendar, mark in all the events for the year. Remember to mark down the dates of your new product launches.
- Resources:
- South Australian events calendar
- SA Restaurant & Catering's Calendar (not updated for 2008)
- SA school term dates
- SA public holidays
2. Select the events which will attract/interest your target customers.
3. Create a mix of promotional activities to suit each event/campaign, budget and work back to when these activities need to start.
